New Wine
Medium:Chalk on paper
Size:9”x12” unframed
This artwork captures the richness of a bottle resting beside a cluster of grapes, a quiet reminder of the transformation that comes only through pressing and refining. The warm glow reflected in the glass speaks of hope and renewal, even in seasons of crushing.
Scripture tells us that new wine comes only after the grapes have been pressed. Jesus said, “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins… No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins” (Luke 5:37–38). In the same way, God allows the pressing seasons of our lives to prepare us for something greater, something fresh and overflowing.
The crushed grapes symbolize life’s trials, yet they also declare the promise of transformation. What once seemed broken is being turned into something new. Just as the vineyard’s harvest cannot become wine without the pressing, so too our lives yield the sweetest fruit when surrendered into the hands of the Master Vinedresser.
“In the crushing, in the pressing, You are making new wine. In the soil I now surrender, You are breaking new ground.”
This painting is an invitation to trust that out of struggle comes strength, out of surrender comes blessing, and out of the pressing flows New Wine.
